WTA #00 – Watchtides Redesign KickOff

I started reworking the application for Economic Events Calendar, which I worked on back in 2016. Back then, we wanted to create a crowd-lead platform for economic forecasts. I was in charge of the UX. Researching about the industry, understanding the lingo, and talking with a few traders. We didn’t do a deep dive user research, but collected information about the market. There was a site, and there still is a site, called estimate.com where people forecasts stock points. One of the team members also worked for a FOREX tool before so we had ample insights and data about a segment of the users, not concrete evidence, but a good direction.

We called our platform Econ.events, simple but it got the job done. The basis was this: the Economic Events Calendar needed a better user experience as it was mostly a table showing event dates and numbers. Even now with an advancement in website designs many sites have revamped the table, but still a table interface for reference.

I like tables though. Being able to see a large amount of data in one swoop. I can quickly index wanted events and numbers, if I know what to look for. That’s just me though. I digress, so I wanted to document re-working on this project. I might not able to do a full user research and journey, or even do a design sprint with the way I work. However, I thought it be a good opportunity to get back in habit of documenting my design explorations, learning, and just have fun sharing without too much pressure.
